She's a sharp one
Jan. 19th, 2023 11:05 pmIt was a question of trust really, Carter knew her skill was there. All she ever had to do was watch something once and could replicate it perfectly, so that wasn't the issue.
It all came down to trusting another human being with a blade perfectly capable of slicing through skin and tissue and cartilage all the way to the major arteries. That was the trust factor, and maybe a little bit of a way for him to see how sometimes Gene had gotten her worked up if he teased her by running a claw down her arm or across her back.
Not that Gene ever had any designs on her, he just had a really good sense of humor and was amused by that freak trait of hers to get turned on by danger. It was as if her life could have gone either way on the path of hero or villain, but her father nudged her into the hands of people who would keep her on the straight and narrow.
Well, mostly anyway.
"Ok, so, um, why don't you have a seat." She'd set up the room while he was taking a shower and gestured to the chair that sat ready for him and a small tray table next to it with a bowl and towel and a little cup.

Tall skinny mocha and a muffin.
Oct. 16th, 2011 10:20 pmUntil he arrived she'd been enjoying her coffee, she was on her third cup. dad would have scolded her for drinking too much of a stimulant. That sort of thing could effect her reflex reaction time. Unlike her father Evey was not work minded all the time, she was far more relaxed. At least relaxed at most circumstances, meeting a teammate outside of the school or 'work' setting was still a bit uneasy for her.
Carter was a powerhouse, she'd seen him fighting and he was impressive. She lacked his invulnerability but she also had skills and agility he lacked. the way she saw it they would make a pretty decent team up. Her dad had done similar things before and was actually the one who gave her the idea.
So here she was, asking Carter out for coffee so they could have a chance to talk without the ever present eyes and ears and sometimes minds, of the rest of the team.
